  Automated moisture measurement for the fluidised bed drying and granulate process
  The new moisture measurement system was successful introduced at the exhibition Technopharm. A lecture about the technology was given at the „2nd European Congress on Life Science Process Technology“. The abstract is now online.
  
  A MOISTURE CONTROL SYSTEM for Animal Feed Production in Feed Compounder
  Phil Johnson, Datastor Systems Ltd. reported on the advantages of moisture measurement control system with integrated MoistureScan for feed mill manufacturers.

  Prof. Knöchel the chair of high-frequency engineering of the CAU/Kiel published an article about: „Stray field ring resonators and a novel trough guide resonator for precise microwave moisture and density measurements.

  In the wood-based materials industry, due to their accurate and fast microwave technology leader Doescher & Doescher are leader. Doescher & Doescher is expanding in 2007 following large MDF- and clamping plate plants in Europe adopting their moisture measuring systems:
  
  • The clamping plate plant of EGGER in Unterradelberg (D) is equipped now completely with measuring instruments
  • The works of EGGER in Hexham (GB) and in Suceava (RO) as well as the plant of PFLEIDERER in Grajewo (P) receive new production lines with moisture measuring systems from Doescher & Doescher
  • The entire moisture measurement in the new developing MDF plant of FIBERBOARD in Baruth (D) is controlled with the measuring systems

  Lecture about On-line moisture measurement in the pharmaceutical industry at the" 1. APV-Forum Feuchtemessung" in Dresden
  
  "The working group for pharmaceutical process engineering" organizes the forum in Dresden on 28 & 29 November. Dr. Ing. Claas Doescher gives a lecture on the topic "on-line moisture test in fluidized bed drying and granulate process". In the lecture trials with the new hydorpharm are presented along with its advantages. Further information on the new measuring system will be here shortly here on this Website.

  Döscher & Döscher extends product program
  
  Two new measuring systems for the wood-based panel industry:
  MoistureGuard2 for the measurement of wood panel samples (50mmx50mm) and TimberScan for the automated moisture measurement of massive wood as for example panels, timber and friezes up to strengths of 50mm.

  Döscher & Döscher develops auxiliary module for the software of the measuring instruments
  
  The new software can indicate evaluations of up to four measurement systems on one screen for comparison.
  Advantages are:
  - only one monitor is used
  - improves comparability of the measured value
  - simple operation and own selection of the limit values for the moisture

  Doescher & Doescher presents their moisture and density measurement systems for customers from the food & beverage industry. The Anuga Food Tec take place from 03-07 April in Cologne at the fairground. Find us in hall 5.1, stand K008. We are pleased by your attendance!

• Patents
  
  Doescher & Doescher receives second european patent for the reference resonator sensor given on 16 march 2006. Together with Prof. Knoechel, chair of the high-frequency engineering institute of the Christian Albrecht University in Kiel, Doescher & Doescher developed this resonator for e.g. long term stability.
  
  The reference resonator already worked in practice in the moisture measuring instruments of Döscher & Döscher. With the invention it is possible to measure with very long-term stability, at measuring points with large variations in temperature or small product density (e.g. at the exit of a dryer). Apart from this long-term stability of the instruments a further large advantage over conventional moisture measuring instruments is that a regular setting of the zero point regulation is unnecessary.
  The patented sensor is used in the measuring system MoistureScan and its versions XT [for product temperatures to 140° C] and EX [for explosion-proof ranges]. You can see the patent here and for more information about the devices click under the menu option “products”.

  Doescher & Doescher receives european patent for microwave stray field sensor given on 31 August
  
  Together with professor Knoechel, chair of the high-frequency engineering institute of the Christian Albrecht University in Kiel, Doescher & Doescher developed a new sensor. This sensor consists of only two materials. By this smaller number of materials used as opposed to conventional microwave sensors the patented sensor has more long-term-stability and exhibits an improved linear temperature behavior. The lack of adhesives is a particularly favourable feature ofthis type of sensor.
  The patented sensor is used in the measuring systems MoistureScan XT [for product temperatures to 140° C] and in the MoistureScan EX [for explosion-proof ranges].

  Doescher & Doescher acquires SODIM, one of the leading suppliers of measurement equipment for the tobacco-processing industry, as customer
  
  To increase stiffness the density of the tobacco rod is varied at the head and the junction of filter and tobacco during production of cigarettes. Doescher & Doescher developed a special measuring module which measures the full-length moisture and density profile of a cigarette non-destructivly. These modules are part of modular, automated measurement stations supplied by SODIM.

  Online support via Internet Now our customers have the possiblity of online support via Internet, beside a similar modem or ISDN/DSL-card. This service is possible also with VPN.   The new development VenScan is suitable for the moisture measurement of band- and plate-shaped materials. VenScan can be integrated simply into the production line. The new system was used for the first time in a wood processing plant. VenScan was integrated into a machine, where it measures continuously the moisture of each individual massive wood plank. In case of exceeding or falling below the specified limits the planks are coloured coded and segregated directly after the measuring head.   LIGNA, international trade fair for the wood industry in Hannover from 02.-06. May:
  
  From 02th to the 06th of May the world's premier meeting point for the forest and wood industries take place in Hannover.

  We will present in Halle 27, stand G 32 our innovative measurement systems, which make quick and exact measurement in production possible. The reliable data obtained allows you to, for example, decrease costs due to rejections and complaints.

  We will be pleased to inform you about our modern moisture and density measurement systems at our trade fair stand. We will also provide individual advisory service.   FoodTecTage in Cologne from 16-18. March:
  
  This will be the third international convention held in Cologne that features an exhibition about process technology, packaging technology and food safety. Döscher & Döscher will present their new developments in the Congress-Centre East. The moisture and density devices that we offer, which are based on the 2-parameter-microwave-method, can be used for both laboratory and production purposes.

  MoistureScan XT (MoistureScan XT.pdf)
  A new variation of MoistureScan now exists: MoistureScan XT, for product temperature up to 140 °C
  
  MoistureScan EX (MoistureScan Ex.pdf)
  Both types (C & II) are explosion proof. The MoisutreScan II is suitable for flush-mounting inside explosion zone 20 (dusty atmosphere). The product-lateral sensor surface may be established within zone 20 for highly combustible environments. The remaining components of the measuring instrument are not explosion-proof and suitable for zone 22 Sensorhead of MoistureScan C is completly suitable for zone 20.

  
  Reference resonator
  A new, patent-pending probe structure developed by Döscher & Döscher now allows to eliminate environmental influences such as temperature completely. For this new development, the well-known method of a reference measuring section was for the first time applied to microwave measurement technology. Maximal precision, reproducibility and long-term stability have thus become possible even under extreme temperature conditions.
